BE PREPARED WE MUST BE PREPARED IN THE FACE OF GENERAL OBASANJO'S COWARDICE. To all the Peoples of The Niger Delta in the states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo and Rivers, - we address this Bulletin. We your brothers and sisters of the NIGER DELTA REPUBLIC MOVEMENT N.D.R.M - Diaspora and at home - call upon you to remember the great slogan of the Boys Scout Movement - ‘BE PREPARED ‘ Ten years ago ~ in Europe, the notorious Berlin Wall, superlatively fortified and guarded by highly experienced and brave troops - as it was,- suddenly collapsed. Then followed other countries and nations that were also held firmly united by iron military force ~ same as Nigeria. One by one - they collapsed. They include the powerful Soviet Union itself. The world had not recovered from the shock when Poland, Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia followed in the order few can now remember - all of them held united by force, same as Nigeria, fell like ripe mangoes in a stormy rain. In Africa too, the evil apartheid monster that had held South Africans in bondage for several years, suddenly collapsed; and the people became free. And the wind of Change for ethnic freedom continues to blow through the face of the earth. All these happened within a space of a ten years. Those ethnic communities in those countries that did not prepare themselves for the collapse, got trapped in bloodbath. Many others witnessed untold hardship and deprivation greater than those that we in the former Eastern Region witnessed at the sudden end of the civil war in 1970. If we do not prepare ourselves for the on coming collapse of Nigeria, when it happens,- in the chaos - some of us will not know even where to stand or where to sit. We will suffer uncontrolled bloodbath and greater hardship and extensive deprivation for a very long time. That Nigeria will collapse within the foreseeable future is as sure as the day follows the night. Nothing can stop it. The world appreciate it; and so no real business enters the country. At last the wind of change has caught up with Nigeria. No one can halt it. And as the wind gains greater momentum and progresses, collapse becomes inevitable. Unfortunately it may be sudden, because the country has got no wise leaders such as Czechoslovakia had. So, we must be prepared. All the happenings in Europe have taught us Africans wonderful lessons that we must dauntlessly struggle for our rights. Our brothers in South Africa through the A,N.C. persevered and fought for their rights and they succeeded. Compared with the struggle to end apartheid, our struggle in Nigeria is a child’s play. We need only unity in order to win. Obasanjo and his Northern sponsors can only kill human bodies, they can never kill human Will. Now that all of us in the South are demanding separation , we must concentrate and fight doggedly together. Obasanjo’s recent blunder in February this year has been to attack and kill eighteen leaders of Massob - Movement for the actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra. As our neighbours the Igbos want Biafra. We want our Niger Delta Republic. The Yorubas want Oduduwa. Republic. That completes Southern Nigeria. Nigeria was not created by God. The Almighty God in His infinite wisdom created Igbo, the Yorubas and the people of the Niger Delta. He created each pf us separately but as neighbours. We must continue to be good neighbours. Every state in the Yoruba area of the country has through their elected Assembly passed resolutions demanding sovereign National Conference to discuss separation in all its ramification. The states in other parts of the South have done likewise. Obasanjo’s respond to these have been negative. Last January in Ibadan he told the governor of Oyo state that there could only be a conference to discuss the usual matters based on the enforced unity. We have done this almost every other year during the past 50 years. SEPARATION IS THE ANSWER. We must not beat about the bush demanding this and that as if from God Almighty As Nkrumah of Ghana said in 1948, “Seek first your independence, and every thing else shall be added onto it.” These include our lands, our waters and our resources. Separation is the answer. ~ Go all out for it. We must remember that Obasanjo has no respect for the Law Courts and for the judges. Let’s not forget that in 1976, he sacked the Chief Justice Dr. Elias and more than a dozen top judges as if they were his domestic servants. All the judges have been intimidated by his evil regime; and they will submit to his wishes. Also in a tribally divided Nigeria, who are the judges that will sit to decide the matter of resource control. Remember that in 1962 in Ibadan, many big lawyers changed from being pro Awolowo to pro Akintola and vice versa several times even in one day. Again, recently, many of the big lawyers that supported poor Abiola abandoned him and sold themselves to Abacha. Even now, some big men, with no principle, who did not vote for Obasanjo; are his arch angels in his evil regime. Does Obasanjo or his sponsors in the Arewa North believe that they can destroy the Will of the people ? They have not been able to do so during the past fifty years. And they have involved the country in several bloody conflicts that have gulped the blood of more than four million people. Can they not learn from history ? Throughout European history no ethnic communities have successfully been suppressed from their determined aspiration for separation. It will be the same in Africa. At the end, Europeans always wisely seek peaceful solutions to their conflicts. If Obasanjo’s policy lands us in bloodbath as in Yugoslavia, in the long run, it will hurt the North much more than the South because we will win for, justice is on our side. Europeans who make all types of weapons, respect their uses. It’s Africans that do not make weapons that are weapon crazy. Obasanjo’s intransigence is frightening; it can embroil us - North and South in bloody conflagration such as Yugoslavia. He is by no means a wise leader. But whatever it is, we cannot be intimidated. Justice is on our side. Albeit, like Boys Scouts - We must be prepared. Our First step is unity in the Niger Delta; and then in the South. The salvation of each of us - Yoruba, Igbo and Niger Delta depends on our unity of efforts. We must unite and save each other in the group. May God Almighty Help Us.
