Champion Newspapers - Igbo Media Voice in Nigeria By
Champion Newspapers - http://www.champion-newspapers.com I support the call below for forming Igbo media outlet and I think it is a good idea, but the ones we have we do not support. We have an Igbo national Media outfit (Igbo owned) like Champion Newspapers http://www.champion-newspapers.com and others like Post Express and Vanguard etc. WE need to support these national Igbo Media but it seems we do not. We have something here, but we do not support it, then how can they grow and become influential.
The Champion Newspapers http://www.champion-newspapers.com owned by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu needs our support. We all can contribute to Champion Newspapers and enhance it's already good effort in creating for itself a viable Igbo national newspaper with a national outlook.
Champion and its management has done some very good work in this aspect, and we can support it and other Igbo owned Newspapers and media outlet like private television Station Igbo owned ( Minaj Television) Nnewi/LAgos - Which is very popular in Nigeria and its good work and expertis in sports broadcasting and transmission. It is owned by Senator Ajeagbo from Anambra State.
Champion Newspapers from my experience when I visited different Cities in Alaigbo and other urban center, is a popular Newspaper among Igbo traders and Igbo People in all the major Igbo business and commerce center in Nigeria. Also it reaches far and wide in Nigeria.
Champion also employes hundreds of Igbo brothers and sisters making it the largest Igbo private media outfit employer of Igbos, and Champion and its management has to be given credit for surviving in the tough media market in Nigeria.
Lets maintain what we have with people who are experienced in running the business, instead of clamoring for a new one with no certain future or concrete plans.
Lets do it and contribute money and send it to Champion Newspapers management, Minaj Television and others.
Lets do it now if we are really serious. Thanks to Champion and other Igbo owned media for giving Igbos a voice. Thanks Ugo Harris Nigeria Democracy and Justice Project Washington, DC January 2002
