Christmas Messages for Nigerians of all stripes
From
N. H. Ibanga, Eschatologist
To the ruling elite:
Thus says the Lord
Plundering and violence are before Me
There is strife, and contention arises
Therefore the law is powerless
And justice never goes forth
For the wicked surround the righteous
Therefore perverse judgement proceeds
You have stolen much, and enjoyed little
You eat, but do not have enough
You drink, but you are not filled with drink
You build fortresses but you are not safe
He who earns wages
Earns wages to put into a bag with holes
God is jealous, and the Lord avenges
And will not acquit the wicked
Consider your ways
Or I will work a wonder in your days
Which you would not believe though it were told you.
To the people of the Niger Delta and the Talakawas of the country:
Thus says the Lord
Come now, and let us reason together
Though your sins be as scarlet
They shall be as white as snow
Though they be red like crimson
They shall be as wool
If you are willing and obedient
You shall eat the good of the land
Destroy your carved wooden idols
Discard your mammy water
Return to Me, and I will restore your environment
And I will work a wonder in your days
Which you would not believe though it were told you.
