My Stand... by
Dear People, I have read with very keen and particular interest the resource control and revenue allocation wahala for some few days now. I might appear passive and non-partisan but inwardly I prefer to allow my head over-rule my heart. It's unfortunate and pitiable that the Federal Government led by Chief Bola Ige (Former Apostle for Justice) is taking these deprived states to court over this matter when it can be settled amicably and out of court. It is also mind blowing that such developments go as far as proving that the minorities are being trampled upon while the majorities are pampered in this modern age of democracy. But please kindly permit me to ask these few pertinent questions before we proceed: What did Chief Albert Horsfall achieve during his tenure as the general overseer of defunct OMPADEC apart from awarding real and imaginary contracts to his household? What is Obong Victor Attah doing with the monthly 1.2billion naira for Akwa Ibom State? Are they fighting for the common man or for their individual pockets? I am only stating that if this money they are fighting for WILL be used appropriately and judiciously, then they have my support but if it is not then please count me out... We must consider the fact the unnecessary autonomy and proliferation of financial interest in natural resources will create more dichotomies even within our little entities and must therefore consider national interest as well in all things. Some of those crying only do so when it does not favour them and when it does they remain silent and enjoy the loot. They should be transparent and honest in all matters and not only this.
