Nigeria: An unwanted American colony

There is a danger with anyone who does not know who he really is. This type of persons seems to be in abundant in Africa, some are educated some are not. Some even attended the very best learning institutions there are in the word, a lot of them for sure, are very rich, filthy rich you might say. Being rich has never really meant too much to me, and perhaps I am one of few in that group. Wealth with no honor is meaningless. Obasanjo is one of those leaders in Africa with an inferior mentality. Inferior mentality is the feeling or the thinking that everything white is good if not better. In some things I will concede that the people in the West (as in the political Western World) have advanced very far in the area of science, but morally, I am not particularly sure that they have much that we can learn from.

Obasanjo some have argued: that he has a hidden ambition to become the next United Nation Secretary General. This perhaps why he is trying very hard to be a good boy to his masters. I hope that this is not true. I hope that the man real does not truly believe that this is possible for him. If he does, the man is a day dreamer. For a long time I have not allowed myself to question Obasanjo’s patriotism. There are two things that I consider worst in the world, one is anyone who is a traitor to his country and the other is a child molester. It would have been much better for such a person to never have been born or worst still for such a person to have a heavy slab of concrete tied around him and then be drowned. Matthew 18:6 - But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.  Here Jesus is talking of the heavenly kingdom, but nonetheless I want to bring it in.

If it is true that Obasanjo is listening to the advice of a foreign nation with a history of untold atrocities, both economically and politically in Africa, against the judgment and advise of very reliable Nigerians, I am afraid, Obasanjo is a traitor to his mother land. It seems to me that Chief Obasanjo is begging to be used by those who are not even interested in using him. It is like an old rock ‘n’ roll song “…some people like to be used and some want to use others …” I can not remember exactly but it is close enough for me to drive my point home. Most people that want to be used, really do not put any premium on loyalty, loyalty means nil to them, they will betray their own family just so they can look nice and be a better black man or in raw language be a house nigger to those they badly want to impress. This kind of people are not worthy of any authority which is bestowed upon them , because they will betray the trust of their own people. A foreign nation with which Nigeria has no extradition treaty or agreement flew into Nigeria and kidnapped a Nigerian citizen to be tried in a foreign country for an alleged drug offenses. I am no fan of the drug dealers, in fact I despise them, they are like rats, they are worthless human beings. This is not to mean that Nigeria should just let some high school drop out fly in and kidnap Nigerian citizens. This is where I draw the line. It is simply wrong. It is a disrespect to every Nigerian citizen. Our president has simply sold us cheap in the arena of international politics.

Obasanjo, who is the Head of State of Nigeria virtually disarmed his security apparatus just so that former president Clinton could feel safe during his visit to Nigeria. He agreed to conditions that no reasonable Head of State should ever agree to just so that Clinton can visit Nigeria. I am not quite convinced that the price, psychological price that is, which he paid and of course the financial cost to the citizens of Nigeria is worth all that, on Clinton’s visit. I agree with Gen. Malu, American military personnel should not be given unrestricted access to every where in Nigeria most especially place of high security value to Nigeria. General Obasanjo is behaving very well to  type. The types who are generally known as uncle tom, lackey etc.

Obasanjo more than anyone should know that Nigerian sovereignty is not for sale, if it were why did he participate in the unfortunate Nigerian civil war. Perhaps I have missed something all along, are we now an American colony ? I knew that there was a lot of slave trade which took place in the 17th and the 18th century in and around Abeokuta, slavery has since been abolished since 1840. It seems to me that some Africans just can not rid themselves of what my father will call slavish mentality. They just like to jump when they see their master, even when the master has not issued any command to jump.

Anyone that is not willing to defend his integrity on principle is not worthy of life and am not saying that people should be unnecessarily belligerent like some 3rd world Head of State. You can still hold your ground without needing to bomb down a civilian airplane just so you can score some cheap point. You can still plead your case and receive what is due you without turning yourself into a beggar as we saw Obasanjo doing trying to recover the so called looted wealth. Obasanjo, should be better advised that in this part of the world where I have lived for over twenty years, people don’t respect beggars, they simply do not have any need for them.

In the area where I come from in Nigeria, loyalty means much and loyalty is everything, even bigger than your family. Obasanjo should be very careful, he should heed Danjuma’s advise. If Obasanjo loves himself and respect the citizens of Nigeria, which I think he does, he must pay great care and attention to Theophilus Danjuma’s concern about these no good foreign military advisors. I am not saying that foreign military advisor can not contribute some things to us, but it should not be to the point where they begin to dictate to us what our defense needs should be or not be. It is for us to determine what our defense needs are and to device a means to meeting those needs without any compromise to our national defense.

I am still waiting for the day when a true Nigerian will win a democratic election in Nigeria, and I am not talking about religious zealots or tribal sensitive Nigerians who want to disguise themselves as true Nigerian. A true Nigerian. Not some one elected because the presidency is zoned to him while all other aspirants hands were tied behind them. To zone the presidency to any group of Nigerians is like appointing a President while the other aspirants outside of the zoned group are helpless. Nigeria should do away with zoning of any office they should make it open to everyone and anyone who wishes to contest for the post. This is what democracy is, an election of the people by the people.
