Your Country's Problem by Southern Nigeria Solidarity Movement
Bulletin: To All Southern Nigerians in the Diaspora. - Europe and America. Is it not strange that since 1947 every political discussion or conference on Nigeria has centred on the term 'UNITY' Every one labours on the term unity every day. No other country discusses 'unity' so often. But a good examination of the root causes of the problems in Nigeria shows that there can be no real unity for more than 250 different ethnic communities cobbled together for colonial purposes; and then left to become a country. There can only be continuous and bloody ethnic conflicts aggravated by religion of Islam and Christianity or North versus South; where the tribes are united by force.. 1st : It was the force of the colonial power, from 1914 to 1960. 2nd. since 1960 it has been the force of the Northern Military. We only try to deceive the world when we meet and pretend that all we require is democracy and human rights. These cannot flourish under deep ethnic divisions, bloody conflicts and religious clashes. The world has known this; and that is why no one opens business in Nigeria - only service business, financed with the money robbed from the Niger Delta and the South. Now please ask yourselves the following questions - 1. Is there any other country in the world that is held together by military force ? 2. How many Nigerians do you know that ever make their permanent homes in any part of the country other than in their own ancestral area ? Think well and answer mentally. 3. How many Nigerians do you know that ever get jobs in any local or state government other that in their own ancestral local or state government ? think & think 4. Is it not true that every one knows that federal government jobs are obtainable only on quota bases that is notoriously characterised by corruption, nepotism, tribalism and patronage ?. Look around properly and answer with the help of your friends.. 5 Is there any other country in the world in which you require government written consent for buying or selling a house or property ~ whether lease hold or freehold and this consent has nothing to do with any tax on the property . Do you know of any other country with such a feudal system of land holding ? ~ Ask at Nigerian Embassy. 6 Do you know why Southern Nigerians are so scared of Northern Nigeria, that they always have to adapt themselves to what ever the North does ? This includes Sharia. And they have own uniformed police with government provided vehicles. 7. Is it helpful to compromise our freedom struggle for small gainful temporary patronage ? Finally; why don't you join us to demand separation so that in the South, there will be a Yoruba nation;. an Igbo nation and the rest grouped as Niger Delta to be one or more nations ? All these nations will cooperate like the European Union in which every one from any of the nations can freely live and work in the other nations. This is not fragmentation. Each of these nations is larger in population than the average in West Africa ; and also larger than the population of more than fifty nations that comprise the United Nations. Is this not better than Nigeria which was created more incautiously (than any other colony in Africa) for colonial purpose, and where you talk of unity daily, but unity is by military force. This will end the bloody conflicts, and move us forward to the modern world of technology. The North cannot threaten the South. ~ Don't let your imagination make you cowardly. Let us end our cowardly statement as in Yoruba ~ "Won o nigba". Write to us and join us. This new century must not be lost to us in conflicts, like the last one..
